TutorABC Junior Children English Speech Contest Oxford

[Taipei, June 12, 2026] TutorABC Junior, the leading online English tutoring brand for primary school students in Taiwan, today announced a strategic partnership with Oxford University Press (OUP) to co-host the “TutorABC Junior Children’s English Speech Contest.” As the only online education partner in Taiwan to hold Oxford’s prestigious “Oxford Quality” certification, TutorABC ensures that all its native-speaking teachers receive regular training directly from Oxford. This exclusive collaboration guarantees that every aspect of the contest — from question design and teaching faculty to judging panels — meets the highest international academic standards.

The contest is open exclusively to TutorABC Junior’s enrolled primary school students in Grades 1 through 6. Registered participants receive a complimentary speech technique course; finalists receive additional one-on-one coaching sessions with native-speaking teachers; and on competition day, a 45-minute pre-performance Workshop gives every finalist a final live rehearsal. Registration closes on July 19, with the in-person grand final taking place in Taipei on August 29. Prizes include co-branded Oxford and TutorABC Junior certificates, MacBook laptops, and other rewards valued at hundreds of thousands of New Taiwan dollars.

Memorizing Without Speaking: Why So Many Children Cannot Open Their Mouths in English

Many primary school parents notice the same pattern: their children ace vocabulary quizzes and grammar tests, yet freeze the moment they need to speak in English in front of others. The TutorABC Junior academic team has identified three core barriers:

  • Test-ready but expression-blocked: Children may excel on written exams yet struggle to organize their thoughts into a coherent, structured speech. The moment they need to speak, they stall.
  • No formal stage to practice on: Students rarely have the opportunity to deliver a full speech in a formal setting, leaving stage presence and quick thinking underdeveloped.
  • No credible achievement to show for it: Private junior high admissions and national high school entrance exams increasingly value oral ability and documented learning journeys, but parents struggle to find a stage with genuine academic credibility.

TutorABC Junior International Speech Leadership Program: Backed by Oxford

TutorABC Junior has built four signature features into the program:

  • Oxford Co-hosted, Internationally Credentialed: The contest is co-organized by Oxford University Press, with questions drawn from the authoritative Oxford Discover curriculum and an OUP official serving as one of the judges. TutorABC Junior and Oxford jointly issue an English Speech Certificate after the contest.
  • Full End-to-End Speech Coaching Included with Registration: Registered participants unlock a speech technique course launching in July. Finalists receive two additional one-on-one sessions with a certified TutorABC Junior native teacher. On the day of the final, a 45-minute Workshop provides a last round of live competition practice.
  • Level-based grouping so every child has a stage: Participants are placed in one of four divisions — Starter, Storyteller, Presenter, and Influencer — aligned to their TutorABC proficiency level, from guided passage reading to two-minute free speeches.
  • Exceptional prizes, genuine growth: Division champions take home a MacBook and official Oxford gifts, plus an Oxford Reading Club membership. Every finalist receives an official participation certificate and a TWD 2,000 discount voucher for TutorABC overseas study tours.

Registration Closes July 19 — Limited Spots on This International Stage

Susie Huang, Vice President of Marketing at TutorABC Group, stated: “We have always believed that a child’s true English ability should go far beyond a test score — it should mean standing on stage with confidence, expressing ideas clearly and compellingly. Co-hosting this speech contest with Oxford University Press is a testament to TutorABC’s enduring commitment to bringing world-class international resources directly to children in Taiwan.”

The contest is open exclusively to TutorABC Junior students enrolled in Grades 1 through 6. Each division is capped at 50 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline is July 19; finalists will be announced on August 3; and the grand final and awards ceremony will be held on August 29 at the Sinorama Convention Center at National Taiwan University in Taipei.
